I have a 3 yr old Allgrip and its done 15,500 miles.
Tyres look good, i dont do much fast corning or sport mode use, so i am wondering how many miles do we get from the continental tyres?

Just changed mine at 15600 miles , they had reached the Continental 3mm marker and all 4 were about the same. Could have gone to 2mm but by that time they would be virtual slicks .

I have a 1.6 petrol FWD and have done 26,600 with still4mm of tread left. Have a trip to France planned in June so will change them before that.

I have just had my 2nd service (19000 miles) and the tyres were F 4mm R 6mm, so had the garage swap fronts to back. Should be good for another 12 months at least!

Ours has done 21000 5mm all round still from new swap front to back every 6 months always have done this otherwise rears will perish and crack before they reach 3mm

After looking at the mileages you are all getting, I have to assume that the daily 200 yard trek on a rough unmade track to my garage must be taking its toll on my tyres. Still its a lot cheaper to change tyres than pay for a new tarmac surface.

I bought some cheap winter tyres but gave them to a friend after one winter - it was costing more to change them around than they originally cost. My standard Continentals lasted about 22,000 miles and I replaced them last October for a set of Michelin Cross Climate. They are expensive but a good option. One point of concern is, should I get a puncture in the non repair zone, and Cross Climates are not available, I could be faced with having to buy a complete set of four alternatives !!

We've just had the 1st service, 9,000+ miles, inspection report says 5mm tread left on each tyre.

Well the good news is the tyres are wearing very evenly. I would have thought though that at 9,000 miles there should have been a little more tread left. I may be wrong, but I seem to remember new tyres have around 8mm.

I always used to put my best tyres on the front of the vehicle, however when doing some research into winter/all season tyres a few years ago I read that it is always advisable to have your 'best' tyres on the rear of the car. Apparently this helps to reduce losing the back end whilst cornering in the wet, mud, snow, etc... I think the theory being that if the front end starts to slide there is more chance of sensing/feeling it through the steering wheel and visually ... ?

That would be correct, tyre manufacturers say better types at the rear axle

I’m sure they are right Smile

21,300 and about 3-4mm left all round so not bad for 4.5 years nearly. Got a longish trip with four up and luggage soon so replacing in the next month. Think the valves hold the sensors so assume the tyre fitter wont touch the valves. Looking at Avon ZV7's, seem to have good reviews and say quieter than the Continentals.

Valves are bolted to the wheels so no need for tyre fitter to touch them or charge you for new valves only balancing
Ensure they set them at the Comfort or Eco pressures whichever you are using to prevent any TPMS issues

Changed my 1.6 Alldrive out in March for another Vitara. It was 4.5 years old and had done 34,000 miles and all tyres still had 4-5 mil left on

I have Vitara S and std tyres lasted 18342 miles, 3 summer tyre seasons. Rear tyres were at 1,6mm limit whereas front tyres still had 3,5mm. Nothing wrong with the wheel angles. The tyres might have lasted a little longer if I had rotated the tyres in the middle of the summer tyre season.

Had all tyres changed about a month ago at 21,500 and what a revelation, on recommendation from a mobile tyre fitter friend who advised against Avon went with Toyo Proxes CF2 SUV and what a vast difference to road noise over the Continentals. Only cost about £85 a corner fitted, even the wife commented that the car is so much smoother and quieter.

I am a big fan of Yokohama tyres but Toyo are becoming very popular and releasing some decent tyres recently

when i had the pajero i always used cooper all terrains which were quite good, but the last set i purchased for the pajero did not last long for some reason, the sidewalls started cracking all over the place on both sides of the tyre, which considering previous sets were lasting 4/6years this set lasted less than 18 months,so not wanting to pay a fortune out i found some toyo open country from demon tweeks on offer,I think it was £230 for the 4 delivered, and as my mate has a tyre fitting matching they were fitted and balanced,I sold the wheels and tyres to my mate before i sold the pajero he still has them and are in quite good nick on his daily runner and they must be around 3 years old now, still plenty of tread, but being Japanese i would not expect anything less from toyo Exclamation

Just had two new for the front at 35,000 miles on 5 year service. Original rears still at 5mm. Contis still, expensive, but they seem to last. Sailed through MOT. Still no issues at all during five years. I'm reluctant to chop it in for a new one.
