I'm about to find new ideas for my new car project. my theme is red and black. I want to buy my vitara with black roof.
I want paint roof bars the same color as roof.
How are they mounted on the car?

Each roof rail is held with a nut at the front and a series of bolts towards the rear, bad news being these are located under/behind the headlining

I would like to do the same. Are the bars metal (alloy or steel) as I would like to powder coat them.

The bars are alloy but as i said in a previous post you would have to remove the head lining to access the fixings to remove them

What type of surface treatment do the roof bars have ?
e.g. lacquer, anodised, etc. Mine are starting to go a little 'cloudy on the top and I would like to restore the sheen a bit.

I use Peek on my alloy bars, you can use regular paint restorers like Autoglym

Thanks I have both so will have a go, or use T-Cut. I don't want them shiney and bright, just the OEM fi nish.
I still need to T-Cut my 'pink door handles too.
