Freezing sat nav
Had an odd one on the sat nav today. Halfway through a 2 hour journey the I noticed that the blue line had disappeared from the road route and the screen was no longer following the journey, it was just fixed, but the commentary was continuing. I reset the nav by using 'Stop Guidance' and then 'Recents' to get it back working. This worked for getting the road back as normal with the blue line and moving location arrow but the commentary had disappeared. Then noticed that the little speaker symbol had a line through it so sound was off. When we stopped I went through the menu's and found the 'Guidance Sound' box unticked. Ticked this and then it was fine on the way home. Just wondering if others have experienced this and how the sound got turned off without touching the thing when you have to go through a couple of menu levels to turn it on or off?

Re: Freezing sat nav
Not had it freezing or the sound issue but on my Vitara satnav (which I assume is the same Bosch system) I have had a few occasions where the blue line had disappeared. Same as you stopped guidance and restarted with no issue
Re: Freezing sat nav
I once had the SatNav (Bosch) freeze on my 2017 S-Cross. When I eventually got it back, the position arrow was showing in the fields alongside the road I was actually travelling on! I had to stop the engine, wait a few minutes then restart for it to reset properly.
Electronically-piloted hands-free driving? Not for me, thank you.

I've got no experience of any of the above issues but are you all running the latest software version 1890?

No, mine is still on 1880. Could not take the stress of the latest after the last one! It's been fine for the past year though.

Edit (afterthought): I update everything (including the SatNav) as soon as I read about it, in particular on this forum, for which many thanks to all you chaps, including - and especially - imack.

Re: Freezing sat nav
Just been playing with my satnav, I knew there was a way to freeze the screen but couldn't remember how to do it.
If you had touched the nav screen at any time during your journey you may have inadvertently 'frozen' the screen.
When you have a route set, as you say, you have a blue triangle indicating your position and a blue line that is the planned route.
Top and bottom of the screen has a transparent greyed area with destination info and the time displayed in the lower right hand corner.
If you press the displayed time then the screen freezes, the upper and lower grey lines are narrowed, the yellow guidance arrow on the right hand side of the screen disappears along with the traffic info symbol on the left hand side of the screen.
The blue triangle and blue line remain, but rather than the map remaining centralised on vehicle position, the vehicle position moves across the frozen map until it disappears off the edge along with the disappearing blue line.
To get the screen displaying normal navigation again, press the white 'navigation' triangle on the centre left hand side of the screen and it returns to normal.
I've not yet found and short cut to turning the navigation voice on and off without going into the menu, which can be a bit awkward on the move sometimes.

Cheers for that, can't remember touching the screen once navigation was set but there is a good chance I did

Re: Freezing sat nav
No, I was sure I did not touch it either. Intrigued about the sound going off though.

Thanks for that info, imack.
You've gone above and beyond the call of duty there!
