Roof bars query

Possibly a stupid question but I've never had any rood bars before and not used to the side rails.

I've picked up some Atera SIGNO RTD roof bars, they seem decent and pretty happy with them.

The instructions suggest that they should be 70cm apart... but there's not mention of where they should be front to back if that makes sense? Does it really matter that much is it just a matter of placing them sensibly and making sure that your loads are centred front to back?

Here's a pic on the car... I'm just adding a Thule 598 bike carrier to it for now, just not had chance to stick that on yet.

That is looking near enough where Suzuki show them on the genuine bars 78901-54P00-000




I have not fitted any genuine Suzuki Vitara bars but i recall the Grand Vitara instructions gave a measurement as to where to locate the front bar from the front of the rail then the rear set at 70cm

I tend to set mine as far apart as possible as I always seem to have 4 metre + lengths on the roof and need to drive for miles on the motorway.
I don't remember the official spacing and I've probably thrown the instructions away.

Hi, I think the 700mm spacing is standard to fit a roof box on the bars. If not using a box, just put the bars where it suits the load best.

Taken a snap of my instruction manual. But as others have said, I've spaced mine to the max so i can fit a roof tent

As you say when you start fitting roof tents the whole distance thing is history...




The biggest issue I found was having the RT forward enough to clear the rear hatch opening

i bought a 2nd hand set of suzuki roof bars, but they came without the plastic insert strips, can i buy these separate?

If your key looks like this the chances are the bars are made by Mont Blanc so the chances are Mont Blanc replacement rubbers will fit

yes looks like my key, but its not the rubber strip for top of bar, its the plastic strip that you cut to length for underneath.

found them on there web site, the part is called, slot cover 594904, but cant seem to buy them of there site.

Could it be this but please check....
