AA Cover Included Empty AA Cover Included

Post by Bazzer on Tue 23 Jul 2019 - 18:44

Hi,
I have had my Vitara a year at the end of September today I received a letter offering to extend my AA breakdown cover.
I was under the impression I would get free cover when car is serviced by main dealer am I wrong ?
My last 2 cars Vauxhall and Nissan included this with yearly service.

Regards.

I have a memory of reading that too, but it wasn't mentioned in my handover. It would also be necessary to have the service done on the anniversary or just before each year in order to keep continuous cover.

The cover offered is very basic, and only offers a 10 mile tow. However, there are options to pay a supplement of £49.99 to get the full package, and £69.99 for European recovery, which make it a very attractive option.

If the 'basic' cover offered with the service is insufficient a lot of insurance companies now offer various levels of breakdown cover. With the price I pay for fully comp and full UK breakdown (on the two occasions I've used it it is always Greenflag who attended ) compared with some insurance only quotes, it's almost as if I'm getting it for free!

I am with green flag and think they are very reasonable.

Agreed. I took their Recovery Plus option for £48 for the year.

I didn't bother renewing mine as have full cover for our family, couldn't see the point of basic cover if you breakdown 50 miles from home and being towed to the nearest garage within 10 miles which a friend with a Hyundai after the first year found out. Assumed he had full cover and broke down on the south coast 150 miles from home and they just took him to the nearest Hyundai dealership and part wasn't available so had to travel back to the Midlands and travel back down and pick it up. Hyundai wouldn't relocate their car back to their local dealership.
