Has anyone had this carried out yet? I’ve just been quoted £408 by my 2 local dealers. Apparently it’s a service plus spark plugs and brake fluid.

This seems ludicrously expensive for a Suzuki Vitara.

I pay less than that for a major service on my Lotus.

Quoted around £210 from a local garage

If the plugs are included in that price then £210 is good. they are expensive iridium plugs, but should last 60 or 70 thousand miles.

I had the fourth service, 60 000 km, done on my Vitara S a month ago by the Suzuki dealer. New plugs and brake fluid. Even though it's not directly comparable it might be interesting to know the price in another country. In this case Sweden. It was 4 279 SEK. That's about £350.

I called in to see the independent garage this afternoon, he was trained by Suzuki and worked at the local dealer as a 'master tech' for 8 years. Once he'd looked into the price of the plugs the price increased to £255. The car also needs its 1st MOT so all in at the independent garage it will be £300 (including MOT) and £455 at the main dealer.

On balance, £150 is a big chunk of money and so I think from now on we'll be using the local Suzuki specialist.

As you can see I have the 1.6 diesel. Had my four year service today; and have only recorded 4,000 miles in the past year; totalling just over 30k miles.
It cost me just £159, and also had a voucher for Suzuki breakdown light.

Interestingly J&J Motors Cross Hands noted that the next service would be due in 9,000 miles and not the normal 12,500 miles which is the normal for the 1.6 diesel. The same applied last year. Have they done this in error, or is it due to the fact that I had a reduced price service.

J & J Motors however, are very efficient and do an efficient and courteous job. After a service or tyre change I always do TPMS check on tyre pressures, and in the past have noted horrendous differences in pressure at High Street Tyre companies. I checked the tyres today and they had been inflated to the exact recommended level. I recommend this company.

Just resurrecting this old thread, but I'm a bit confused.
Wasn't the Vitara 1.4 Boosterjet a newly released model in the Spring of 2016?
So how come forum members were discussing 4th service costs last spring...?
My Vitara 1.4 is now 4 years old... having been purchased in March 2016.

Anyway, my local stealers have quoted me almost £500 for this....
which doesn't seem right....

Yes, it was a new model in 2015/16 but depending on how many miles you do each year it would have needed servicing sooner than 4 years old. We had been using our local dealer for servicing until the crazy quote for the 4th service. It’s the spark plugs which are the expensive element of this service

I decided to buy the plugs online and then got a local Suzuki ‘specialist’ to service the car.

By doing it that way I got the service done for £240.

Ah, understood, I forgot about the mileage dimension. I'm at around 32000 miles at the moment.
The odd thing is that the stealers are not mentioning the spark plugs at all in their sumnmary of work to undertake, but I guess at that price they are included.

Bit baffled with my 4th year service quote, they say its classed as a major service and same price for diesel or petrol of £289 plus £49 for Mot. I asked that assume that includes spark plugs and brake fluid change and they say no but can quote and add that on if I want it done which brings it to over £500. Did question how can diesel and petrol be same price but he said that's what it says on the screen. Tempted to source parts and get it done locally but that invalidates extended warranty as states must me serviced by a Suzuki agent.

the life time warranty comes from the dealer you buy a new car from , as long as they service it then they warranty it for life.

and if most dealers are like the ones people near me use then half of what you pay for won,t be done, maybe the filters and oil and that,s it,nothing properly checked or adjusted or even inspected,as it,s usually the apprentice given the job anyway, supervised by any fitter walking past him/her Exclamation

I bought my car new from NMG in Norwich. Unfortunately they are no longer a Suzuki dealer after Suzuki took the franchise away and gave it to another larger group (Desira).
I believe NMG were one of the first Suzuki car dealers in the UK.
I will give them both a call today.

4th service price Vitara S Boosterjet Empty Halfords UK

Post by AKC1 on Wed Mar 04, 2020 8:11 am

Halfords UK online quote for Major service Vitara 1.4S.......... £ 239 which is very reasonable... However............
No doubt when they realise the cost of required spark plugs and the need for fully synthetic oil, we would receive a phone call later bumping up price.
The bread and butter servicing and repairs should be ok by these people, but specialist items like the allgrip system and brake radar etc. is best left to main dealer!

Halfords Autocentres are renowned locally for giving cheap initial quotes then you get the phonecall "we have found a potentially dangerous problem with your car and it will be ££££££!!!!!!!!" They recently ran a £10 MOT deal but not one car passed its MOT without a huge repair bill prior to it passing

I can understand people having their car serviced at a main dealers for the initial 3 year warranty period but after that don't be afraid to self service, use genuine parts and quality oil and a Suzuki will serve you well.........other than oil changes and the use of matching brand/type/size tyres all round the AllGrip system looks after itself (even has a failsafe heat controlled switch off to prevent damage)

As for the radar braking other than if it has been in a collision it should stay calibrated and is something you would have to pay for on top of any regular main dealer servicing even if there was a problem

Any questions on servicing and 99% of the time someone on the forum will help thumbl

Really, never heard of lifetime warranty on Suzuki. extended warranty just came through at £25 a month.

I believe the "Lifetime" warranty offered by Tracks Suzuki is an independant warranty rather than the official Suzuki warranty
