More than likely, the service reminder was not reset when you had your service. If you are a Petrol, you can reset it yourself through the dash menus.

This is coming more common with other manufacturers as well . I wouldn't worry about it unless you are covering big mileages in which case an oil change would possibly be needed.

If anything it’ll be an oil degradation light. The levels can be fine but the oil could be spent. But I wouldn’t suggest that in this case.

I presume that you have an invoice for oil at the last service. What mileage have you done since that service ? I periodically check out the options on the information panel, including the intervals for changing the oil; and I suppose it is just a case that the garage forgot to reset the system. If they had intentionally conned you on the oil change, they surely would have made it a point to cover their dishonesty by resetting the system.

Constant short journeys can kill the oil sooner than expected, although I suspect that manufacturers err on the cautious side when it comes to oil life. If you are within the recommended mileage It shouldn't be a problem.
