You could always try ringing around dealerships from other marques with comparable vehicles and see how much they charge and if cheaper go back to your dealership and see if they will price match.

For comparison, Škoda charge £159 for Minor Service (1 year or 9400 miles) or £279 for Major Service (2 years or 18800 miles.)

However, if your vehicle is on Variable Servicing (max of 2 years or 18800 miles) they charge more than the 2 year Major Service, depending on what the vehicle needs.

It’s £189 in my local. Could be your area, would it be worth traveling a little for a cheaper price?

Forget the Suzuki website prices, just ring around the Suzuki dealers quoting the £189, one of them will bite. Don't ever go to kwik fit, although I suspect that was a joke.

Servicing money is well spent, if it ensures your car is in A1 condition. Nothing worse than breaking down on a motorway on a freezing et night.

i am going in to see what the dealer says .if not I have had a look at Halfords site they seem more reasonable I will just have to check that they use the correct parts to keep the warranty up.

The only way to solve this is to change the rear pads for the new superseded part number.

Had my 2 year service earlier this month and mentioned to them the noise when reversing. They replaced the rear pads under warranty and so far the noise has gone.
On the servicing cost front I'm glad I took out a 3 year servicing plan when I bought my S, which works out at just over £200 a service at any Suzuki dealer. I may go over the bridge to Wales in 2020 for a service if it works out cheaper, especially when there won't be a toll charge for the bridge.

Got my car booked in for it's second service, a 1.6 auto. Place I normally go is £207 but thought I would try another dealer but prob 10 miles further away. They quoted £255 but because I am low mileage at 9800 they said it wouldn't need the valve clearance and poss re shimming done which is charged at time and materials poss 1-2 hours extra ???? I knew the GV had to have a valve clearance check every so often but didn't know the new 1.6 needed it. When I said I also have an ongoing wind whistle problem they didn't want to know as said it will get complicated if another dealer have started investigations.

Just got back from my Vitara's second service carried out by J&J Bridgend. Normal service plus replaced rear pads(strange squeal when reversing) under warranty and a software update on my gearbox (Auto) which had a harsh change from 1st to 2nd in sport mode. Both problems solved . They even offered to give me a lift into Bridgend town centre as I didn't want a car. I chose the bus as I don't pay for it and the stop is only about 70 yards away. Excellent service for £189. It may be worth a 60,70 miles or more journey if you are saving a good chunk of money and have a few hours in the town. Graham

My local dealer quoted low-£300 for the 2nd year service whereupon I told them another dealer was low £200s. They muttered something about optional/recommended things being in the £300 cost and without much prompting they could reduce it to £218. Why can't this industry just be honest and upfront with this stuff and not try to pedal snake oil extras?

So, with the 2nd service due, I went online and got prices from my local dealer and five others within a 25 mile range. Then rang them for 'phone' prices and found they ranged from £275 to £421 (online and direct booking). Ironically, my local dealer was second cheapest at £305, so I booked there as it's literally 5 minutes drive from home. Quite the range of prices, but nowhere near as cheap as other parts of the UK.
