Post by mrgrimsby on Sat Nov 11, 2017 8:49 pm

Good evening all, could I ask what you all have paid for your first service please? My vitara is the s model and I'm thinking around £100 to £150? Thanks

Lifetime warranty? I thought mine was 3 years, £180 is a bit steep, if I was charged that amount I would want a list of what they do. I'll let you know what they charge me next week.

I had my two year service today, the first one during my ownership (bought the car when it was 16 months old) I got an invoice listing all parts/consumables used/replaced, a printout showing items checked including tyre tread depths and any problems (drivers wiper smearing slightly) also a checklist showing what needs checking with tucks to show that it has been.

i paid roughly £190 for my first service which would have been more if I had not argued the toss about a first service.

It’s just an oil change. Anything over £150 is a joke.

Do we have a choice really? I'm on the Isle of Wight so even if I shopped around it's £50 just to get to mainland, the chap did say they upgrade software which I've already done.... And he will lower headlights so I don't keep blinding drivers in front. Bargain!

You can lower your own headlights . Its on the forum. Some dealers are disgusting and some are fine . Looks like yours are the former. Can you delay it until you visit the mainland , a couple of months or a couple of thousand miles shouldn't matter.

I've emailed sparshatts Fareham for a first service quote. I'm happy to go over after Christmas so we will see, the headlight lowering I'll take a look. Cheers.

Had the first service on mine today - £145 which I don't think is too bad when you consider what it costs for some other makes.

Very good price, really don't know why I'm being hammered. Puts me off suzuki a bit.

Following the comments re first service prices, do suzuki UK have any input on prices dealers charge? It could be bad for business if dealers rip off customers they should be looking after.

There is a Suzuki menu pricing, but these are only RRPs. I suppose it’s a lot to do where you live, the service is £132 down my way.

i was told that Suzuki state that the dealer has to do this has to do that and they could do nothing about this.when haggling got it down by 50 quid because a it did not need this b it did not need that.seems a bit of a con to me. but what can you do you need the book marked to keep the warranty.???

Had first service today, took it in last night had a courtesy car, collected car this evening interior cleaned and exterior washed, got the price down to £160 so that's not too bad I guess, they gave me quote for next 2 services and the 3rd year mot for £624, can be paid in installments of £28 per month , prices obviously fixed.

I tried the local dealer, (but they were poor to say the least on the 1st service on my swift.botched the appointments up twice, only took 40 mins for the service, didn't do half of it, and left the car filthy despite supposed to be cleaning it,.never use stoneacres at ackworth again.)
went to another 30 mile away , much better, did what they said they would and was 50 quid cheaper, I find suzuki,s servicing along par price wise with most makes. although some are far better, the wifes kia for an eg
but I will be using my local next time, the Suzuki warranty doesn't rely on Suzuki doing it in England,

I phoned my local Suzuki dealer (NMG Norwich ) and was quoted £78 for an Oil and filter change, not too bad as just the oil was £50+
Vickers in Telford, Shropshire quoted me £159 including a mini service/health check, or £99 for just the Oil/Filter Change.

My car has 4600 miles/ 4½ months on the clock now and isn't actually due a Service, however as it is probably a keeper for a few years I'd like to keep on top of it, especially in these early years.
I have a Halford Trade Card so in the end as the Oil change was 'just for me', (as apposed to a stamp in the book which it will get @ 9,000 miles), I decided to do it myself.
I didn't bother changing the filter, just used my Link: Pela 6000 Suction Pump through the dipstick hole, sucked out just under 4 litres of Oil and replaced it with same amount of nice new Castrol Magnatec 5w30 A5/B5 stop/start oil.  The small amount of oil that might still be in the filter bowl is negligable, when nearly 4 litres of fresh is added to it.

£23.99 and 20 minutes on the driveway to give my Engine a pre-winter drink of fresh oil.... and i didn't spill a drop !
