Finally getting round to posting a few picture's I've taken of the Vitara S.

I got the car in September 2016 and it's seen nearly 8000 miles already with me including one decent 500(ish) mile trip through some parts of Scotland. The trip started where I live currently in Dundee -> Elgin -> Inverness -> Fort William -> Rest and Be Thankful (A83) -> Dundee. Lots of scenery on the way which made the backdrop for most of the pictures I have of the car.

Great photos! How did the car handle on the windy roads? Did you use sport mode for the better feel?

The whole drive was great and the first time I really gave the car any kind of challenge outside of the daily drive or motorways. I switched it into sport fairly often, mostly when navigating around the lochs. We were trying to have a bit of a relaxed drive since we were in no rush but it's quite fun to turn on sport mode on those roads.

I recorded most of the trip via dash cam and put it into one short video, massively sped up. You can kind of get a feel for the roads though, even if it is a bit too fast to see anything clearly!

I can't seem to find the email to confirm where I got them. Either from their own website or eBay but it's definitely these ones because I remember the picture. There are some sellers on eBay with the same picture:

They've been great so far. You should get clips to secure the front ones in even though they have tape on them. You'll probably need a flathead screwdriver or something to get them up in the window channel properly.

Gave the Vitara a very long overdue bath today.

When I want to wash the car I have allow myself adequate time to do the full steps otherwise I don't see the point in doing it. I also won't let someone else clean it. I've not had much time to dedicate to it so it's actually been pretty neglected recently other than a quick snow foam to get the worst off every now and then.

Didn't get any before pictures but the full wash was:

Snow foam
Rinse
Two bucket wash with grit guards
Rinse
Hydro2 Lite
Rinse
Dry with Purple Monster Edgeless towels using Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer as a drying aid
Glass cleaned with Autoglym Glass polish

You can see a little bit of the dirt coming off near the rear wheel on this one:

Great to see some love for cleaning your car right.

What are you using for your seats? I've only had fabric seats before now, and I have been told a mix of ideas of how to clean the Vitara seats right. Some say not to hover the fabric as it will bobble over time, some say that doesn't matter. Any tips?

I've just been using a clean microfibre and water so far. Luckily haven't had anything too bad yet. Just dampen the microfibre and I'll just quite lightly rub the cloth over the fabric. If I did have something more stubborn I think I'd use a very small amount of auto glym interior shampoo followed by water then just try to dry it out as much as possible by pressing down with a microfibre.

I do have a wet vac but as you said, I'd be reluctant to get them too wet. Damp should always be enough. Do you still have fabric mats? I cleaned them recently because I stupidly didn't get rubber mats at the beginning of winter, only switched out near the end of winter. I got myself a brush attachment for a drill. Used it along with AG interior shampoo and a hose to get them really wet, wet vac to extract the water and they came back looking a treat.

For the leather, I'll usually do the same. I do also have Dr. Leather wipes in my arsenal if they need a deeper clean though.

Next job for me is going to be polishing the piano black door pillars. They were so swirled from the day I got the car. Got myself some 3" pads for the DA. Might be a job for today actually...

Thanks for that! I was the same with mats so I just bought new, but won't fit them until the Welsh summer...3 days in July.

I'm looking for a spot pad for my DA to do the same job, I've found the interior piano black has also swirled

Got a lot of rain this weekend so no chance to get out and start on the B-Pillars. I did however make a quick attempt at tidying up the piano black interior. I don't think I was aggressive enough to really fix it but I didn't feel as confident working in the small areas, even with the 3" pad.

Before:

After:

Not sure if an iPhone camera managed to pick it up. Definitely a small improvement but needs more work. This was only two passes with a finishing polish and a one-step pad. I can definitely get more aggressive with it.

Gar, the spot pad kit I was using was the ShineMate Spot Pad Kit.

On order! This is a must do job for me, the swirls on mine are far worse and really draw your eye.

Let's hope I get some better weather up north to sort out those B-Pillars too! I know the feeling of being greeted by a swirly mess every time you get to the car.

Some nice weather when I got up today so I decided to go tackle those B pillars. As soon as I got the area all taped up, I felt some light rain but kept going anyway as it wasn't enough to get in the way.

Got one pass on the passenger side and then it got heavier. Moved into the car to put all my stuff away and then the hail came! Called it a day at that point and just cleared up. Maybe another day I'll manage to do the other side and the Piano black trim near the C pillar.

Got a picture to show the improvement made in that one pass with a one step stop pad an Menzerna Medium Cut polish.

Looks good with the light from the torch, waiting to see how it looks in the sun to decide if it needs more work.

Sadly, I was rear ended last week so the car will be going in for repairs next month. Fortunately no one was seriously injured and I'm not having to pay anything out. The other party was driving a Hyundai Getz which didnt look like it fared so well after taking a nose dive into my bumper.
