God no. Dealers down here in South Wales will do it for £132. It's only an oil change!

And how did they justify so high service costs?

In Slovenia it's usually between 100€-150€.

My local dealer has quoted £130 inc VAT for the first service. The next nearest was closer to £200.

Had my first service today, first thing service reception put to me was the bill for £605 Shocked Says I, "why so much" reply was this is the invoice for the next three services !! Asks why do they assume I want it to pay that much now and she was taken aback then amended the invoice to pay to £155. Anyway service done, auto gearbox thump from 1st to 2nd cured thank god with a software update. Noise grating brakes they say are normal and still bedding in..really after 5500 miles. Air hiss noise from drivers door/window, they say it is not right but cannot find where its coming from and to book car back in for another day. Oh and forgot to mention to them about the car free breakdown cover which they promised but mentioned nothing about it so unsure if that is automatically done or what. Was glad to get the car back though after having a Baleno as a courtesy car for the day.

Glad to hear you got the auto box sorted Rich and glad you pulled them up on the assumption you wanted to bank £450 with them for the next few years rather than in your own bank!!!! The cheek of it!

The AA cover has to be activated by the dealer and in turn they would give you a leaflet about it. Chase them as it is not an automatic thing and you will have to call and activate the cover

Just got back from my 1st service in Cardiff, AA cover included, £140. Why won't Suzuki sort out this minefield of servicing, it changes all over the country.

I agree, service prices should be fixed across the country, youbwould not expect to go into Currys and pay £50 more in a different county?

J&J Motors Cross Hands ( South Wales ) have quoted me £260 for my second service; i.e. 25k. Sounds a bit steep, but if it includes full AA cover including Europe then that is ok with me.

I would ask for the service manager and try and do a deal with him. He may move down a bit as the only real extra work is a change of brake fluid. This is done with a pump and probably takes 20 minutes max . Worth a go.

So, I have just received a letter from the service department thanking me for the recent purchase of my new Suzuki Vitara and reminding me of their fixed cost service plans. I quote "..... it is peace of mind knowing your manufacturers warranty will be kept in place as you will have maintained your vehicle at a main Suzuki dealer ......".

One of their bullet points states : Simple transparent pricing

3 year cost: £700.20 one off cost, or £19.45 per month

I don't consider it transparent pricing nor particularly cheap, knowing the short list of consumables which get changed at each service!

I guess that's just London prices. My local dealers service plan is £399 for the 3 years and the first MOT

when we bought our S the quoted 3 year service plan was £500 (North London) but on negotiation it came in at £250 which I though wasn't too bad!
