Sunroof in the SZ5 Empty Sunroof in the SZ5

Post by blastpipe on Fri Sep 16, 2016 7:10 pm

Hi there all

I'm looking at an SZ5 as a lease car with work. I'm not a great facn of sunroofs because of a lack of hair on my head. How effective is the blind on the sunroof do people know - I assume its perforated rather than solid but wondered how effective it is at blocking light/UV?

Many thanks

BP

It's grand, don't know about the UV factor but blocks all light coming thru when closed but keeps the cabin bright if u get what I mean... Lol. I love it it's class on a starry night down the motor way

I was worried about this as well, at the time I ordered the car I would gladly have done without the sunroof if the option had been available, but after a day out on Exmoor with good sunshine yesterday I can confirm that the diffuser works brilliantly, in fact I clean forgot there was a sunroof, it just gives the car a nice light and airy feel.

Very pleased with the performance, only 100 miles on the clock yet so still in running in mode, mine is a manual and seems very high geared, around Exmoor we hardly used fifth or sixth although from the test drive I did on the demonstrator sixth gear is quite useable even on our roads here, dropping from the 1.9 litre of the Grand Vitara I was concerned about the power from the 1.6 unit but as Aston Martin used to say the power is quite adequate.

I too am folically challenged but have found the sunroof an absolute joy during the recent fine weather and a welcome feature when stuck in congestion or creeping around town. The sun shade works well when closed and seems to prevent any nasty rays landing on my tender top!

U won't be disappointed I love the machine, only mistake I made was no going with 4x4 but not sure I'd ever have a use for it. Great town runaround, motorway cruiser and kid lugger.

See my thread "Uncomfortable driver's seat". I'm sure it can be resolved but it's an annoying niggle that spoils an otherwise excellent motor.

Sun roofs are noisy, but the flip up option at the stern is o.k., as is the shade which works effectively.
