Although not supplied on the UK Vitara a space saver temporary tyre is listed on the parts fiche,
the correct tyre listed below is important especially on AllGrip models...

SPACE SAVER TEMPORARY TYRE SPECS Sx4_ss10

Steel Wheel 4 x 16  ET50  Part# 43290-79J10
Tyre Spare T135/90D16    Part# 43180-79J01
Valve TR414                    Part# 43130-60E10
Placard 80KMH                 Part# 79167-62J00

(Note: the spare tyre has a standard TR414 Valve listed not TPMS)

The above 3 part numbers are the same as the SX4/Fiat Sedici (Pre S-Cross) and are usually available on Ebay new or part worn

SX4/Sedici Space Saver...

SPACE SAVER TEMPORARY TYRE SPECS Sedici10

A full kit is listed in many Suzuki Europe accessories brochures part# 99KIT-61M00-SPW Notrad-Kit

I've been looking for this information for a while - so Thanks! Does anyone know whether the boot recess will accept a full size wheel and tyre rather than a spacesaver? I'm still waiting for my new Vitara so am not able to check out for myself.

I'm thinking there will be enough room for a full size wheel as you need to get it home should you have a puncture scratch

The standard tyres and the optional spare have the following diameters....

SZT/SZ5     215/55R17 = 668mm
SZ3            215/60R16 = 665mm
OPT SPARE  135/90R16 = 650mm

My current Mokka will only accept a spacesaver in the bootwell. A fullsize spare has to be carried as "luggage" - hopefully securely tied, hence the question. I hate spacesavers nearly as much as I hate the supplied goo and pump, useless most of the time.

A heads up with the progress on the SX4/SEDICI space saver, yesterday I purchased two I believe new unused SX4 space saver spare wheels both were advertised as 135/90R16 but when I got home I realised one of them was a 125/70R16......

SPACE SAVER TEMPORARY TYRE SPECS Yellow10

SPACE SAVER TEMPORARY TYRE SPECS Red_1310

I have since found out there is a rogue SX4 in Saloon form which runs a smaller 195/65R15 hence the smaller 125/90R16 space saver to suit possibly identified by the Yellow steel wheel as all the other SX4's and Sedici's appear to have a Red steel wheel

The Allgrip Vitara's would definitely need the Red 135/90R16 space saver to stick within the rolling radius and prevent 4WD wind up but I am wondering if the Yellow 125/90R16 would be ok on 2WD Vitara's or would the ABS/ESP sensors sense this and perhaps drop into limp mode?

I will try and find out more as soon as I can, maybe a look at the S-Cross which strangely comes standard with a Space saver unlike the Vitara  confused

I'm following this thread with great interest, although I think I'll wait until I've actually got my car before I purchase. I really would like a full size spare - steel would be fine - but I need a definitive answer on whether it will fit in the boot well, and since there are not many active members on this forum yet, I may well have to answer my own question scratch

The more I look into this the more it seems buying a steel spare wheel is going to be better long term and financially cheaper if you were to get a puncture, it seems that by using the supplied tyre sealant you then ruin the TPMS sensor which will then have to be replaced as well as a new bottle of sealant?
I will find out the prices but 1 x TPMS + 1 x Tyre Sealant may well cost more than a spare wheel/tyre

Anything is better than the sealant - including a spacesaver!

I've used the one I purchased for my Mokka once due to a puncture, and the feeling of 16" wheel on the same axle as an 18" wheel was very uncomfortable. Fotunately it was less than 1/2 a mile to the garage. I felt unstable at 20mph never mind the 50 mph maximum recommended.

The AWD immediately switched off when the spacesaver was in place, so I guess the same will apply to the Vitara to save damage.

I've been trying to decide if this one is OK for the AllGrip Vitara as it's a good price:

Just to add to my doubts and confusion I see these numbers as being appropriate for the SX4 on numerous websites - 43290-79J00 and 43180-79J00 which differ from those quoted above.

It is a bargain and that's why I bought It and the Yellow one last Wednesday Wink

The guys name is Josh , not sure if he has not updated his ebay shop or may be worth trying as he had broken several SX4's?

The dealers parts fiche shows the correct space saver tyre for both the 16" and 17" diameter wheel is 135/90R16

Not the most scientific pictures but called by my dealer earlier and got the following spare wheel measurements....

Wheel well has the captured nut to retain the spare wheel....

SPACE SAVER TEMPORARY TYRE SPECS Wheel_10

The polystyrene tool tray (this is where it gets scientific) was this deep on the brochure...

SPACE SAVER TEMPORARY TYRE SPECS Wheel_12

And when I got home it reads.....

SPACE SAVER TEMPORARY TYRE SPECS Brochu10

So it appears the spare wheel well is around 155mm

One way a full size spare may fit is to remove the lower carpet and only use the second hard carpeted boot floor on the upper setting, this gives approx 6 inches of extra height than on the lower setting?

Looking into those part numbers they seem to be for the Japanese built RW420 2 litre engined SX4's and not the Hungarian models, could be an identical part just manufactured or sourced in Japan instead of Europe, the wheel pcd/offset is exactly the same

Good idea about removing the lower boot cover. I'm now decided I'll wait until I get the car and then arrange for a spare - of whatever size! In your second picture of the wheel well, is that the base of a jack I see in the foreground? If so that's really rubbing it in - you can jack the car up, take off a wheel, and then what  Rolling Eyes .

While checking the vitara spare wheel well last week I opened up an S-Cross in the showroom to find they also do not come with a spare wheel anymore so these bargain space savers may become even more in demand

Does anyone know the size (length and diameter) of the bolt securing the spare wheel? I believe the captured nut is already in place, but I will need to secure my spacesaver when it finally gets to meet the car. I'm sure I can adapt something to act as the spacer/washer or whtever is used with the bolt, so any information would be very welcome.

As the UK Vitara does not come with a Spare Wheel no retaining bolt is shown on the parts fiche at my local dealers but this is what they use on a SX4/Sedici, I cant guarantee it is the same but I will try and source one in the next week to try when the car arrives, I am guessing it is the same as an S-Cross as well but will check the part numbers as soon as I can......

Forestdweller ; the first thing I did when I got my Vitara S5Z with 17 " wheels was to get winter tyres fitted. I tried fitting one of the summer tyres in the boot, removing both floors and all the junk at the bottom. Although the tyre fitted in the recess the top floor would not quite fit, so basically it would be a bit of a pain.
How do space savers effect the All Grip system, and the tpms; does that annoying light flash in your face all the time ?

As long as you use a 130/9016 tyre there is no problem with the AllGrip as it is near the same diameter, like you say tho you will get the TPMS warning
