Rugged Pack? Empty Rugged Pack?

Post by sundodger on Sun Aug 21, 2016 10:39 am

Hi Guys...Just exploring options. As far as I can determine, the extent of this option is f&r replacement skid plates, black side mouldings & black running light trims ? Cost of this option over here is listed at 590 euros, which would seem not too bad ?

Rugged Pack? Image13
Looking at the image of front, I am confused !  Rather thought this was the upgrade fore the rugged pack ?
Also having read comments on another thread... You are not going to tell me that the upgrade skid plates are PLASTIC are you ?  What would be the point ?

It is, you're right. I bought a different skid plate just to stand out a little.

...I just thought that the 'Rugged' replacement would be alloy, seems strange to replace one piece of plastic for another !

I think you will find anything alloy "look" or chrome is 99% plastic in this day and age

http://www.berman.it/en/4/prodotti.html

I think the term "skid plate" is used loosely by many manufacturers and being realistic and taking into account the Vitara's limited approach angle the positioning of the cosmetic plastic underguards are so high you would be dragging something further under the vehicle before you were skidding on the bumper/plastic underguards in the rugged pack

For real Skid plates I think you need to be looking at the Rival/Scut items like I have on my Vitara that are available in steel or alloy, touch wood I have yet to catch the front bumper/alloy "look" underguard but I have had the Rival skid plate touching on some ruts on some off road sections
