The Suggestions Box Empty The Suggestions Box

Post by Grumpy Souter on Sun Jul 03, 2016 6:47 pm

How about a suggestions box where members can post "SENSIBLE" comments about things they would like
changed on the Suzuki Vitara in the hope that Suzuki may read them and possibly implement some of them?

Great idea. This can also be used to suggest ideas and changed for the forum also.

My first suggestion which would be a very simple software change would be:
Folding mirrors to be controlled by the ignition on - mirrors open,
off - mirrors closed,
Both with manual over ride.

Isn't the auto folding mirrors an extra option, about £200 I recall for the module. I agree that it should be free Wink

Ye I noticed that today I thought I was missing something with the switch that they wouldn't fold in, I bought the glx with the addition of motorised mirrors and now they don't fold when locked only on manual command

Having an armrest (at least in higher specs) come as standard, not making it ridiculously priced extra.

I would like to offer a few suggestions,
1   A MPH display on the info screen
2   When using the satnav, the current radio station displayed somewhere, this seems normal on most other cars.

I find the lack of an auto option on the folding mirrors to be the biggest niggle options wise on my S. You have to fold the mirrors manually before you get out of the car and this stops you using them to see if its safe to do so if parked parallel to the road. Would not have cost anything surely!

Suzuki use this manual method across the board. It's a shame really.

My suggestions would be the following...

UK models

Heated seats, like the rest of Europe (who get heated seats as standard on most models) it gets cold here in the UK too
AllGrip on all grades not just the SZ5/Turbo S
Launch a base spec model, again like the rest of Europe, fabric seats/no privacy glass/non colour coded plastics/no sat nav/ steel wheels/AllGrip

All Models

Mud and Snow rated tyres on AllGrip (As do Fiat on Panda 4x4 and 500X 4x4)

The Suggestions Box Ms10

Higher Suspension on AllGrip (as does Swift 4x4)

The Suggestions Box 20130710

Modified Front Bumper for better approach angle on AllGrips (see Panda Cross)

The Suggestions Box P_cros10

Optional or Standard Skid Plates (available in Russian Accessories catalogue)

The Suggestions Box Vitara16

All of the above on a special edition Off Road package Vitara thumbl

I agree, penny pinching in the extreme except that with the horrendous cost for a piece of mainly plastic you can hardly call it penny pinching!

In "Sales and Wanted" when an item is sold can the advert be removed from the site ?
This will remove the clutter from the site as it grows and will only show available items.

Consider it done. I'd like to keep them for reference, it could come in handy if someone is looking for an idea for their car or part and so on.
I'm seeing if I can create a sub fold in the section to house all of these old posts and topics.

I`m in complete agreement, it would be much better if the mirrors auto folded on locking the car, surely it`s not beyond Suzuki to modify the software to do this, it seems so obvious, I will drop Suzuki customer services an e-mail tomorrow but not holding my breath, they were making  mention of some compensation for the late delivery of the car but seem to have gone very quiet since.

Yes indeed, this is one of the best suggestions that has emerged on this forum. There is no way around it really, I often forget to fold the mirrors when parking the car, and have to lean back in to do it, which of course means you have to place the key fob in your hand, and operate the ignition and the mirror switch. Quite a dangerous procedure really if parked on a main road.

There's a YouTube video of somebody replacing the mirror mechanism with one that closes and opens automatically with the locks. It requires the fitment of a small electrical module, and the stripping of the door cards. Not really worth the disturbance to the internals of the doors.

I wish there was a rear central armrest, as in other markets, and I too would like the radio channel to be shown. Also the day and date. Oh, and I think the silvered plastic frame in the centre of the dials looks cheap, the S Cross manages without it and looks far smarter as a result. Seat heating would be useful too. As has been said, many markets have these things as standard. And why such a narrow colour choice on the S version?

And I would like a choice of tyres. Michelin all weather tyres would be more useful than the Contis.

Now, if Suzuki would look at our suggestions they might find sales really rocketing.

The Suggestions Box Empty Suggestion

Post by Grumpy Souter on Tue Oct 25, 2016 1:55 pm

Suggestion for Admin:
Would it be possible to reverse the layout of the posts so that the newest post is at the top of page one.
As the topics get longer it means scrolling to the bottom of the page or changing the page to read a new post when most people usually only read the new posts and only scroll to the old posts when looking for a specific article.

GS when there is a new post you will initially see the category is highlighted with a red circle, clicking on that category or clicking "view posts since last visit" you will then see the topic with a new post will have a small red square/page , simply clicking on this will take you to the replies you have not yet read be it just one or several replies

The highlighting of a new topic only partially works in the mobile client. For normal threads they are highlighted but pinned topics such as this one it's very hard to see which one has been updated - you need to analyse the last updated dates. There are a lot of pinned topics which maybe doesn't assist.

Not being a computer Geek and I can only use the platform supplied by Forumotion but if you contact Forumotion they may be able to adjust things to suit
Personally I have classic version and a favorites link on my mobile to "view posts since last visit" so never miss a topic

What bugs me the most is the bank of switches on the right hand side that can't be seen from a normal driving position. It's almost impossible to use any of them whilst the car is moving because they are too low and more importantly hidden by the steering wheel. I must admit that I don't drive our Vitara as much as some of our other cars so need to see the switch to make sure I'm pressing the right one.

Form over function methinks.
