MY VITARA HAS BROKEN DOWN Empty MY VITARA HAS BROKEN DOWN

Post by Grumpy Souter on Thu Jun 02, 2016 7:56 pm

When on holiday last weekend my Vitara S developed an intermittent screech which sounded just like a seagull in labour.
Opening each window in turn I could not determine where it was coming from, however with the windows closed
it was clearly coming up through the floor.
I was quite concerned so I thought a visit to a Suzuki dealer was in order.
At the dealer the technician said without driving the car "I know what it will be" then took it for a drive just to
confirm his thoughts, Yes it's the prop shaft bearing. He did not say so but I think he may have had this problem before.
After conferring with management they contacted Suzuki who gave the GOOD news that they would authorise
replacement of the prop shaft, BAD news is Suzuki do not have one in stock, will take several days to get one.
Contacted AA who said the car should not be used and they then organised a hire car which I am still using.
I will be contacting the dealer in the morning to see when I can expect my car back.
Why o why do these problems happen on Bank Holiday weekends ?
Has anyone had a similar problem ?

First I've heard of this one. Never worry about your warranty, Suzuki are so good they will pay. They ever cover bulbs and blade in the first 9k or 12months

Good news, I got my car back today, all as good as new.
The only downside was it took a week to get a new prop shaft from somewhere in Europe.
