Found this site, there is a UK stockist but very vague with no photo of thier stocked bars and quite pricey. I do like my side bars on our GV, they were Ebay specials at about £150 and have been good, waiting for some similar in price to emerge.

I've stumbled across these too, look quite good.
The website itself has a webshop part that seems reasonable enough

wow .. that's quite the price difference.
Cobra's seem very expensive. Maybe you could try with misutonida?

Far as I can figure they are Italian and a fair bit cheaper.

Thanks, they don't look too bad, price works out at £260 but something that size I would imagine will attract import duties and tax etc which would bring it up to the Mitsutonita ones. Will keep looking. Did contact a few companies that supply bars but they only offer the Mitsutonita ones at the moment due to Vitara being fairly new to the market but say other companies will produce at some point.

Thanks for that, they look solid enough, but I wish they were wider. Could just be the picture of course.

But from pictures I prefer these from Miustonida's

I did :-) from what I can tell they sit too close to the car to be of any practical use. But again.. pictures. Might be very different in person.

I guess with side bars it is how you intend to use the vehicle, some people want them as a visual accessory or as a step so would like/need them to protrude from the vehicle where as if you needed them for off road protection you would want them as close to the body as possible to prevent hang ups such as the hardman ones although I still think you would loose valuable ground clearance looking at the picture below

Probably right about that Carl. I would need them to be actual side STEPS, both my wife and kid could use them. But I see what you mean with the offroading, wouldn't want anything to protrude there

Also, depends where you drive. Slippery narrow roads with big rocks - side bars make sense. I decided not to have any bars front or side for the sake of looks and clearance. I'll rather be careful or buy new bumpers Smile

If I put any on I would need them to be practical steps. On my GV they were great for grand kids to use to clamber in and out of the car and when I was putting in and taking off a kiddy seat they were a godsend to use to reach over to seat belt it in. On the Vitara being a bit smaller and lower don't know if I need them really yet. Might be tempted at the right price but not the tube bar ones as drops the ground clearance too much for my liking.

Sorry if this on any other post but has anyone fitted the side bars/steps from Direct 4x4 who trade on eBay for about £190-£210 ? I had some eBay ones on my GV and was pleased with them. Just wondering about ground clearance and jacking points when fitted.

I would not say they were offensive or would look out of place Rich, I would have preferred alloy over stainless purely on weight and the frosted look you get with alloy rather than the polished stainless but one big plus is where it says

• There is no need for drilling or taking up the carpets from the foot-wells, the brackets fit to existing mounting points accessed under the vehicle.

Just a heads up I found this Alloy version in Germany that looks very similar to the Grand Vitara SZ5 Side Steps......

again they are
Made of high-quality aluminum, mounting accessories are included as well as simple self-assembly. The assembly is done at the original mounting points of your vehicle without drilling or welding.

Grand Vitara Side Step Genuine Suzuki...
