Cold Air Intake Filter Empty Cold Air Intake Filter

Thinking a horsepower boost via cold-air intake filter is a worthwhile investment.

Two part question:
1. Can I install one on a diesel Vitara?
2. Is this the type of change that affects warranty?

I'm sure as well as affecting the warranty todays modern engines are finely tuned to extract as much power/fuel economy that fitting this type of filter actually reduces power. I read a while back that the most efficient filter upgrade was a high flow panel type filter in the original airbox
I don't have the Vitara part numbers but an S-Cross (which the Vitara is based on) has air filter part#13780-61M00 (280x167x35mm) Monstersport (formerly part of Suzuki Sport) have a Panel Filter PFX300 SD23 for the Swift Sport that is the same size 280x167x35mm
On a similar theme another forum I run for Suzuki Vanvan motorcycles we tried various filter and big bore exhausts and on a Dynojet rolling road we actually lost 1BHP when fitting a high flow exhaust silencer over the standard set up confused
