Thanks Karl, my wife says you have to stop buying and fitting all these accessories your a bad influence.
As an aside what are your thoughts on the Osram/Philips LED sidelight bulbs being for interior use only ie not road legal, have you had any problems with yours.
(I've just fitted Philips LED's and they def look much better and surely make the car more visible.)

Apologies to your wife Charlied , I'm sure my fiance would agree with her!

I think you would be very unfortunate to find a police officer who knew about E marked bulbs, with the vitara being so modern i doubt the LED's would stand out so much as say they would on a clapped out Corsa, personally i think that any working bulb be it E marked or not is better than a non working bulb which is more likely to get you pulled over by the police

Just changed internal bulbs to LEd after a bit of manipulation. Only problem appears to be front pair seem to foul switches, push it on it doesn't spring back, any thoughts.

Mine are close but work fine? Have they fully seated as the heat shrink on some looks longer than others

Just fitted LEDs to the front, centre and boot. Much better light now. I did have to take the ends down on the bulbs to get them to fit into the front light cluster. Easy job, as the LEDs are fitted to a fibreglass board that is longer than the builds themselves. just used a Stanley knife and whittled the end of the fibreglass board down a few mm until it didn't foul the switch anymore.

Does anyone know the length of the festoon bulb in the centre light cluster on cars without sunroof? That's the next Job and just wandering if anyone has already done it and knows the size. Bulbs on flea bay for pennies.

I think the light is the same as my Grand Vitara, this is what I use as the standard Festoon LED's were not too great...

Done this and what a difference. Also changed the brake light bulbs to LEDs however a couple of days later the electronics are playing up. The car will start without pressing the brake pedal. Just coincidence or anyone else had similar?

Driving an Auto. To my mind it shouldn't make any difference as they are just bulbs, no feed until the brake pedal is pressed.

So the LED brake light bulbs that I put in after one of the original blew were causing all sorts of problems with the car. The garage replaced them with original type and the fault has cleared.
The lesson of the day, make sure your spare brake bulbs are not LED or it will cause warning messages to pop up. The garage are thinking about raising a labour bill as non oe bulbs are outside the warranty.

Managed to replace sidelights easily enough but struggled and have given up (for now) with the interior.
Removed the lens ok but couldn't get the bulbs out, nothing to grip to pull them.
Boot light, couldn't get the bulb to fit, do I need to remove the flat metal clip that holds the bulb as there is no way that the LED bulb will fit into it?

All the bulbs fit and nothing has to be removed, I did have one LED that had a longer heat shrink/insulation around the terminals

To remove bulbs wrap with insulation tape leaving a pigtail to pull the bulb out

Thanks, I'll give it a go later.
I'll have another look at the boot but I couldn't get it to fit.

Fitted the front interiors this evening after work in the car park. Not advisable to do it in the dark, nearly blinded myself.
What a difference.
Will tackle rear interiors tomorrow lunchtime, then the boot again.
