Here is more photos, this time some cable mess getting sorted out.

Power cable for the amplifier going through grommet in the firewall.

Because I decided to install an amplifier in the trunk I had to use quite long cables.

Original head unit is actually quite good in sound quality and paired with an external amplifier there is no need to change it.

Facelift Vitara in Finland - Page 2 Img_1026

Subwoofer fits nicely in a spare tire well and is well secured in place.

Amazing piece of work. That Vitara will rock!

I did some sound deadening on mine but used self adhesive neoprene pads ( Yaheetech) on the wheel well area and under the rear seat. I also used them inside the doors and inside the rear tailgate. The neoprene isn't as good at absorbing panel resonance but is better at damping unwanted sound from the rear of the speaker cones. You might also find additional door strip sealing ( Weatherstrip) might help with wind noise, although I doubt you will hear any with that kit turned up to 11.  Very Happy

One piece of trim I couldn't manage to remove was the curved, lower door-frame scuff plate: the one that covers the cable runs. There seemed to be a hidden fixing to a cable connector that I couldn't release, so eventually gave up.

Best of luck with the project. Hopefully you don't pop the windows out when you max the volume Razz Very Happy

Thanks for your nice words crozier!

I'm going to soft pads on top of current sound dampening material. StP Biplast polyurethane pads (10mm thick) might be my choice.

Some of the trim pieces are really tricky to get removed, I actually managed to break one plastic trim piece Sad

URC.3 Remote Control unit waiting for installation.

Glove Box with URC.3 installed. I can now adjust subwoofer level easily.

During holidays I removed these from my previous car. Old but trustworthy DLS MS6A 6.5" 2-way component system, this set will replace original speakers in the front doors.

Loving this, what a lot of effort you've gone to upgrading your sound system thumbl

Top marks Mikkeli and I'm looking forward to seeing the next stages.

Front door panel removed.

Original speaker by Panasonic.

Panasonic vs. DLS. DLS midwoofer comes with a big magnet so I need to make adapter rings for these to fit.

I found a nice spot for the DLS crossover units inside door panel.

Painted adapter rings, paint used is waterproof to protect against humidity inside door structure.

Facelift Vitara in Finland - Page 2 Img_1125

I used white sealing tape between woofer and adapter ring, same tape is sealing surfaces between door and adapter ring.
Facelift Vitara in Finland - Page 2 Img_1124

Woofer installed with adapter ring, now I can lower window in the door without hitting woofer's magnet.

Here is some photos of new cables for the speakers/2-way crossover.

I used Wago connectors to connect new cables to original door wiring harness.

New cables ready to be installed.

And cables in place, these cables connect to the crossover unit in the door panel.

Here is a nice spot for amplifier's fuse box right next to ECU. This place is just behind the battery which is a good thing, cable length should be minimal before fuse box.

Fuse box installed using a little metal bracket.

Third step of sound dampening begins, co-drivers seat is already removed. First step of adding sound dampening material was trunk and under back seat, second step was front doors.

Thank you for your posts, very informative. Threads like these are invaluable, even down to showing how the internal fixtures and fittings are attached, let alone the great work you've demonstrated on the sound system.

I agree, great pictures, my only concern is what did you use the Stihl chain saw for ?

Thank you! Hopefully this thread can help someone in the future while doing anything similar with Vitara.

Thanks! I kept chain saw available for "just in case" but so far it wasn't needed.

Next project is 2-channel dash cam from BlackVue: DR490L
