Condensation in cold weather Empty Condensation in cold weather

Post by Yorkshire pud on Thu Dec 20, 2018 10:20 am

Since the temperatures have dropped the last couple of months I've got terrible condensation on the windscreen when I get in the car after work everyday, while others in the car park around me have none at all?
I have to sit with the blowers on the front screen while it clears.
Anyone else noticed this with the vitara?

Have you got anything wet in the car, like a towel or does it need a good air and drying?

Mine normally has 2 soggy Spaniels in the boot so does get a bit fogged up until I open the windows on our way back from walkies.

Also setting the heater to suck in fresh air rather than recirculate helps a lot.

Interesting video, so its air con on windows open heater on high and not recirculating.

My Vitara puts the heater on full blast and air con on when I hit the front demist button anyhow, and the cars always set on fresh air coming in.

Good idea on the car dehumidifier, keep the interior nice and dry especially for winter.

Thanks for the helpful replies!
Never thought about opening the windows at all either!
I will purchase one of those dehumidifier bag from a asda next time I'm shopping.

The bags are about £8 and when the blue dot turns pink, bung it in the microwave for 6 minutes. Remember to let it cool for a minute!

Been using the windows slightly open procedure since I watched this vid last year, and it does seem to work.

Other suggestions: check your pollen filter is not dirty or blocked. This is quite a common cause of condensation in VAG vehicles.

Try using Autoglym* Glass Polish to clean the inside of your windows as it has built in anti fog.

Try using a rubber or vinyl cleaner/protector on your door seals. I use AG* Rubber and Vinyl Protector on my door seals on my First Monday of the Month 1 Interior Clean. For the rest of the month I use EZ* Car Care Sleek Interior Cleaner.

*similar products from other manufacturers are available!

I always use Gummi Pflege on the door seals, boot as well, especially when its getting close to winter.

Who wants to replace frozen door seals, not good - or cheap! affraid
