With the clocks going forward the Vitara headlights will no doubt be being used more, standard the headlights are decent but I find the high beam has a yellow tint to it (as did the sidelights before the LED change) so below are the Bulb specs should you want to upgrade...

HEADLIGHT BULBS Headli10

HEADLIGHT BULBS Headli11

HEADLIGHT BULBS Headli12

Various upgrade bulbs are available from Osram/Philips/Ring/PIAA/IPF etc  as soon as I have upgraded I will post the results

(please note the above specs are for UK vehicles, please check outside the UK)

Just looking at a trip to France and thought better get some spare bulbs just in case so this was very timely!
Have found that our Vitara however has H11 bulbs in the dip not HB3! They are a different wattage to the fogs!
We just bought similar bulbs for spares, but beware, some bulbs are not road legal including the Philips!

What is the situation regards continental driving please on the Vitara ? Is it necessary to fit beam deflectors ? My previous S Cross had lights that dipped straight down, rather than deflecting to the left; but I have not as yet worked out the pattern for the Vitara.

Hi,
Car makers seem to be going backwards on this one. Our older VW had little levers on the headlamps to flick, dead easy. The later cars had expensive plastic headlamp protectors which you could then stick a kit of blanking stickers on marked locations, but currently there seems to be provision at all.
We used Eurolites. They are awkward to position accurately and we have found it easiest to ignore the instructions and line them up in the dark with the beams shining on a building side wall otherwise you will lose half the beam pattern. Not good on the Euro offside when you are sitting on the wrong side of the car! Don't try to fit them in the ferry queue!
These are projector type head lamps and are similar to our previous passat and we found that although the cutoff is not particularly pronounced, it is there, and on previous trips in either car we were flashed a couple of times! Dropping the beam level sorts it on a temporary basis, but in view of a greater police presence nowadays, we always carry and fit the deflectors. Apart from the fact that they do work as well as anything, they are visible. Plenty available on that well known sales site!

I have changed my dipped beam lights on my SZ-T to Hid 55w 6000k ballasts and bulbs. The output is fantastic and far better than the standard bulbs the car came with.
I did consider the new led kits you can get but decided on these as upgraded my last car with these and they are excellent.
The kits are now very cheap and it only took 10 minutes to install them.

Has anyone fitted led h11 in the fogs? Have changed the sidelight to led and the look pretty sweet with the drl's during the day and was thinking of changing the fogs too

Had the H11 LED's arrive and the H4's for the Jimny

Being the easiest to fit I did the H4's in the Jimny....

HEADLIGHT BULBS Wp_20166

Initially you can see the LED is brighter/whiter...

HEADLIGHT BULBS Wp_20163

But being a near full moon the camera did not show much difference between high and low beam...

Low

HEADLIGHT BULBS Wp_20165

High

HEADLIGHT BULBS Wp_20167

Yet an app on my phone showed the difference between std and LED....

Osram H4 Night Breaker

H4 LED Conversion

As soon as the H11's are fully installed on the Vitara I will post pics/results

Hi Charlie

These are the H11's for the Vitara Fog Lights, be aware the description is incorrect stating they also fit HB3 but they are H11 only...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272145477872?_trksid=p2057872.m2748.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

For the main beam you need to ebay search HB3 Cree LED or HB3 COB LED such as these....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191824316717

The above are what I have purchased in HB3 to match the H11's, they have yet to arrive so I cannot 100% recommend them

If you make an offer of £18 they accept this straight away thumbl

Just explain to your wife you have Ebay Tourette's, it is a terrible incurable condition where something inside you just bids on something and is totally out of your control, i'm sure she will understand Wink

Bulbs ordered bids of £14 for H11's and £17 for HB3's accepted straight away, HB3's despatched within 2hrs of bid being accepted.

Gar and Charlie,
I am totally confused with these headlight conversion bulbs.
Admin stated main are LED - not on my car, only dip are LED
H11 bulbs are available in 33, 36 and 40 watt. HB3 are 80 watt. Some have fan cooling others don't
I want to convert both my main beam and fogs to LED.
Will you please tell me which items you purchased, wattage and part number and where you bought them.
Both your cars look exactly the way I want mine to look.
