215/60/17 Yokohama Geolandar G012 A/T-S 96H
Hi folks,
Is anyone here driving 215/60/17 Yokohama Geolandar G012 A / T-S 96H on original rims?
I plan to go up from 55 to 60 and want to know if it's possible without rubbing issues?

On another thread some guy put on 225/65R17 without rubbing, but he did have a 30mm lift. Don't know how much the lift helps for rubbing though.

Not sure if the G012 is available any more as there is the new G015 that I have on my Vitara S but in 215/60R16...

Oh... that's bad news!Admin wrote:Not sure if the G012 is available any more as there is the new G015 that I have on my Vitara S but in 215/60R16...

I do not want to buy new rims so that's why I want to use my original 17 "rims.
Another option is Toyo Open Country A / T + 215 / 60r17 or 215/60/17 General Grabber AT3 96H.

The closest size for the G015 is 215/60R17, which are 3.4% larger in diameter, but what kind of effects would this cause?

With the automatic a larger tyre will result in the gearbox not changing up into 6th, this may not be noticeable on a manual but you may find 6th gear too tall and have to change down more regularly?

Just go for it! Got 225/65R17 Pirelli Scorpions ATR with no problem at all. Im on 10k now with these and never have i noticed the gearbox “struggling”.

Did you end up fitting the 215/60 r17 Yokohama tyres ?. I am also considering fitting the same size G015 to my 1.4 S. If you did fit them, what tyre pressure do you use, and did it affect the tyre pressure monitor system at all.

Hi,
It’s still winter in Sweden so I’m driving on my winter tyres...
In Brazil they are using 225/65r17” with 1” lift!

I am thinking of fitting these tyres to use all of the time. They get good reviews and are hard wearing.

Think you should try them on your car.Ndrummond wrote:I am thinking of fitting these tyres to use all of the time. They get good reviews and are hard wearing.

Since it seems to work with 225/65r17 I have to check if I need to modify the car or if I can run without a lift kit.

215/60-17 is only 11 mm larger in radius than original 215/55-17. I would be very surprised if that didn't work.K.I.S.A wrote:Think you should try them on your car.Ndrummond wrote:I am thinking of fitting these tyres to use all of the time. They get good reviews and are hard wearing.![]()

Is anyone on here running these 215/60 R17 tyres that have any pictures with them fitted. As mentioned, I can't see there being a problem.

I finally fitted a set of General GRABBER AT3, and I have to say that I am surprised how nice they work on the car. Quieter and more comfortable than the original tires.Ndrummond wrote:Is anyone on here running these 215/60 R17 tyres that have any pictures with them fitted. The tires fill in the wheel arches ok, but in retrospect I could have bought larger ones (225/65r17). This will probably be a good compromise, however, because the car is used daily.

Like yourself I can't believe (Yokohama AT in my case) how better a more aggresive All Terrain tyre can be over the standard Continentals in both noise and comfort
The grabbers suit your Vitara well

Look forward to more pictures from Sweden

Is it possible to get some close up pictures of the wheels and tyres next to the wheel arches please.

Thank you for the pictures. They look great, much better than the original tyres, and it looks like there is still plenty of clearance there.
